The board for founders who don't have one.

Founder Standup is a free, open community where founders report their progress every week, in public, to each other, and learn from people who have done it before.

01Why this exists

Every CEO reports to a board. Most founders report to no one.

Anyone who has worked in a company knows how it goes. You report to someone: a manager, a CEO, a board, a client. Deadlines are real, because someone is waiting for the result.

When you build your own startup, that's gone. Nobody is waiting. It's your game and your rules, so it's easy to procrastinate, polish features nobody asked for, and find good reasons why it can't launch yet. We've done all of that ourselves.

Funded startups get a board whether they want one or not. Bootstrapped and pre-funding founders don't. Founder Standup is the board we wanted for ourselves, open to anyone who wants one too.

Founder Standup was started by Vygandas Pliasas and Kiril Nugmanov.

02Mission and vision
  • Mission

Give every founder a board to report to.

A group of peers who see your progress every week, ask what happened to last week's goals, and expect you to ship.

  • Vision

No founder builds alone, and no good idea dies on a laptop because nobody was asking about it.

We want weekly reporting to be as normal for indie and early-stage founders as board meetings are for funded companies. Anyone can join, from any country, at any stage, for free.

03How it works

Post. Present. Repeat.

One habit a week. You decide the goals. The room notices whether you hit them.

  • Before Wed 19:00

    Post your weekly update

Two minutes: where you are against launch or your main metric, how many users you talked to, your morale, and your goals for next week.

  • Wed 19:00

    Show up to the call

Your update becomes your slide. You present it, the room asks questions and offers help. No update, no slide.

  • Every week

    Stay on the board

Every startup and its last update is public. Post and show up, and you stay on it. Go quiet for a few weeks, and your startup turns grey until you're back.

04Beyond the weekly update

Learn from people who've been there.

We invite guests to share their expertise, their experience and how they read the market right now.

One question keeps coming back: when anyone can build software with AI, what does it take to build a business that lasts? We work it out together, week by week.

05House rules

A safe place to figure things out.

Ideas here are early and messy, and that's the point.

  • No harassment.
  • No laughing at anyone's idea.
  • Feedback is constructive, or it isn't given.
06What we are, and aren't
  • Free and non-profit.

No fees. Founder Standup is run as a non-profit project.

  • Open.

No application or invite. If you're building something, you can join. Calls are in English, because the group is international.

  • About showing up, not size.

A weekend project that posts every week ranks above a big startup that went quiet.

  • Not an accelerator or a course.

It's a weekly check-in with people doing the same hard thing.
